In Pursuit of a Flat Belly

Today, I was wearing a pair of black shorts and was looking for a top, any top, to wear with it. I grabbed the first thing I saw - a black tank with white ribbon detail from Three Dots. I slipped it on and looked in the mirror. To my horror, the look was completely and totally trashy. With the shortish shorts and the cropped tank, my tummy bulge was horrifically highlighted. Needless to say, I hadn't meant to grab a tummy baring top, and I changed immediately. But the damage was done. I had seen my tummy for what it really was, not artfully camouflaged by tunics and empire tops, and I can't get the image out of my mind. It's time to get serious.

I haven't yet bought the Flat Belly Diet book, the one that's generating all the buzz, though I plan to, but today at the supermarket I bought one of those slim guides from Prevention about eating for a Flat Belly. The key to this diet seems to be something called MUFA's, or monounsaturated fats. And the best places to get them? Chocolate. Yes chocolate, semisweet and dark. Also olives (esp. green), nuts and seeds (esp macadamias), good oils (esp safflower, but also canola and olive) and avocados. ALL of which I love. The key is to eat a little of each of these at every meal. Sounds easy enough. Of course there's more to it than this, but I am going to give it a shot and let you know if it works for me!
